How to Cope with Rejection in Timeshare Sales

If there is one thing you will need to learn (and quickly) when you start a job in timeshare sales (or any kind of sales) is to cope with rejection and your clients saying “no!” For every “no” you need to remind yourself that your dream client is just around the corner. In the meantime, here are some tips to help you cope with rejection in timeshare sales.

1. Don’t take it personally

Don’t take business rejections personally. This is the first rule of any timeshare sales rejection. It can be easy to define yourself based on your success or failure.

2. Be philosophical

Remember to look at the overall picture and not the one rejection you are feeling. Judge yourself by your monthly timeshare sales, not by your weekly success. If you focus on rejection, you are going to attract more of the same.

3. Accept your feelings

Getting rejected feels terrible, even if it is in work and not in your personal life. It can be humiliating and disheartening. You might be tempted to try to push these emotions aside, but you are best to deal with them rather than suppressing them. Speak to a co-worker or your boss to let off steam… then follow point No.1 and No.2.

4. Positive self talk

Kind, affirming messages will make it easier to move on from a setback in timeshare sales and set you up for success in the following days. Treat yourself with the same level of compassion you would show a close friend or family member going through the same experience.

5. Be patient

Expecting overnight success is not realistic. Unrealistic expectations will only make it harder for you to deal with rejection in timeshare sales. Give yourself some time.

6. Learn from others

If your coworkers are having a great run in timeshare sales, try shadowing them and see what you can learn to improve your approach. Asking for feedback is another tip, even from the clients that reject you. You never know, they might give you the best advice about how to improve your timeshare sales.

7. Respect your own boundaries

Don’t change who you are to conform, but mold your strengths to the task at hand. If you believe in what you have to offer, then it is just a matter of time.
