How to Make Money in Sales

Every veteran sales pro will have a host of great tips on how to make money in sales, and more specifically how to close a sale. This article aims to provide some insight into how the best sales agents use their skills to make money ethically and in harmony with their consumers.
Be professional and courteous
Before you can make money in sales you need to earn the right to your customer’s money, showing them that you are worthy. That means, turning up on time, treating your clients with respect and courtesy, finding ways of how you can best serve your client rather than focusing on what you can get from them.
Focus on the value of your product
To create a sense of desire in your client you should focus on the intrinsic value of the product you are selling. The more unique and original your product, the easier it is to get the asking price as the value of what you are selling is “priceless” and less likely to be compared to other “cheaper” versions. Make money in sales by highlighting what makes your product better than the rest.
Be realistic
It is a common mistake of new sales agents to over promise in order to secure a sale. While this may provide a short term boost to your commissions, you will soon see the negative repercussions when the sale is cancelled and the reputation of your product loses its credibility. It is always better to go beyond expectations and pleasantly surprise clients than fall short.
Be kind to your competition
While your first instinct is to bad mouth your competition to make money in sales, this technique only succeeds in making you look weaker. Focus on the value of your product rather than resorting to criticising your competition. You can use the positive aspects of your competitors as an excuse to make you look even better, highlighting how your product excels.
Be prepared
To make money in sales, be prepared for answering questions that pose a threat to your sale. If you know there is a weak spot in the sale, then plan ahead and be prepared for the questions that can put a spanner in the works.
Know when to stop talking
Once you have worked your magic and the sale is cooking in the minds of your clients, then is the time to keep quiet. Inexperienced sales agents can end up talking themselves out of the sale by introducing new topics that the clients had not considered.
