Get a great night’s sleep the night before you head to your new job. Plan bedtime early and make sure there are no interruptions from your family, pets or from gadgets beeping. Put your cell phone on silent and drink a chamomile tea before you go to bed.

Dress for success!

You have only one opportunity to make a first impression. Dress in fabrics that will be wrinkle free, fresh and make sure to bring a sweater. Some offices have surprisingly cold air conditioning and there is nothing worse than shivering in front of your new boss.

Pack a lunch and snacks that do not require refrigeration and are odorless. There might not be a refrigerator, so pack non-perishables. Bring extra snacks or treats that you can share too; there is nothing more impacting than sharing something sweet to earn the respect of your new coworkers on your first day at a new job. Make sure you have money as well in case your team decide to eat out for lunch. You don’t want to be left behind. Remember not to drink any alcohol even if it is offered. This will give a good impression.
