What are the best paying jobs in the world?

If you are still in school or considering a change in careers, you might want to look into working in the medical field.  LinkedIn (an online giant similar to Facebook where professionals can network and look for jobs) compiled job data to come up with a list of the highest paying jobs around, and not surprisingly, many of the highest ranking are in the healthcare and medical industries. 

The list does not include C-level jobs such as CEO or CFO, many of which are even more lucrative than the professions listed below.  The incomes reported for each of the jobs on the list have been averaged, as individual earnings vary depending on a large variety of factors.  Take a look at what the best paying jobs can offer, as far as salary goes:

Jobs ranking #1-5

In the number one spot, Cardiologists report the highest income, earning an average of $356,000 a year.  Following close behind are Radiologists, with an average income of $355,000 a year, Anesthesiologists earning an average of $350,000 and Surgeons raking in $338,000 yearly on average.  There is a sharp drop in income below these four top-earning jobs, with Medical Directors earning an annual salary of $230,000. 

Jobs ranking #6-10

The sixth highest paying job goes to Pathologists, who earn an average annual income of $225,000.  Both General Physicians and Hospitalists average the same earnings with a salary of $220,000 a year.  Psychiatrists earn a substantial living, with an annual income averaging $218,000, while working as a Senior Corporate Counsel earns an average of $175,000 each year. 

Jobs ranking #11-15

Coming in at eleventh highest paid are Staff Software Engineers, who collect an average yearly salary of $168,000, and Dentists are not far behind, earning an annual average of $165,000.  Directors of Engineering are paid an average of $164,000 a year, while Tax Directors average earnings of $161,000, and Directors or Product Management rake in an average annual income of $160,000.   

Jobs ranking #16-20

Patent Attorneys ranked sixteenth on the list of highest-paid professions, and they earn an average income of $160,000 a year.  Anesthetists are paid an average annual salary of $156,000, while Senior Software Engineering Managers and Global Marketing Directors each earn an average of $155,000 yearly.  Rounding out the list are Podiatrists, who are paid $150,000 annually on average.
