What does your job say about you!

Have you ever wondered what people think of you when you tell them what you do for a living? Perhaps the first judgement we make about someone is how much they are likely to earn by doing a particular job as well as how much they needed to study. However, the kind of job we do can say a lot about the kind of person we are.

Here are some insights into what your job might say about you.

Sales

People who work in sales positions are usually outgoing and talkative. Because they spend most of their time at work talking to clients, excellent communication skills are essential for success in this job. You will also find that people who work in sales have dominant personalities, are very goal oriented and able to see the benefits of products and situations easily.

Freelance jobs

People who are attracted to freelance jobs are generally those who push against authority in some way, who prefer to be masters of their own time. As such, freelance workers tend to be freedom loving and independent. In order to be a success at freelance work, you will also need to be highly self-motivated and able to multitask.  It also requires the kind of personality that doesn’t crave security and can thrive in times of uncertainty.

Technicians

Skilled technical jobs require employees that are very focused and lateral thinkers. Their problem solving abilities will be heightened and they have the ability to find solutions based on logic rather than hunches and emotions. They work with factual information rather than hearsay. Often these kinds of workers will be goal oriented, if not ambitious, preferring quantitative rather than qualitative targets. These people usually tend to prefer working alone or in a team where roles are clearly distinguished.

Health workers

As you would expect, these kinds of people are naturally caring and compassionate, especially at the ground level where daily contact with patients occurs. Other qualities include dedication, multitasking and being able to compartmentalize emotions, so as to keep a straight head when faced with traumatic scenarios or situations.

Educators

Educators tend to be perfectionists of sorts, able to break down tasks into bite-sized units. Usually these people are highly dedicated, hardworking and outgoing. Teaching requires a high level of communications skills, empathy and multitasking. 

Finance

Depending on the different branches of finance jobs, generally these people are ambitious and goal oriented, being able to see patterns and opportunities. Jobs such as accountants and financial analysts tend to be more introverted than say sales oriented jobs. These people tend to see success in terms of quantitative rather than qualitative data.

Business owners and entrepreneurs

What most business owners have in common is ambition, clear goals and creativity. Most are highly adept at multitasking and inspiring others to work towards a common goal. Their belief and drive in what they are creating is essential for success.

Blue collar jobs

If you work in a blue collar job, the key qualities of these kinds of people is reliability and dedication, may of whom have a deep sense of loyalty when employed by a respectable employer that honors their hard work. While these kinds of jobs may not suggest a heightened sense of ambition, yet most workers are goal oriented.

Artists

The most creative jobs on the list, it goes without saying, would be the artists, whether that be musicians, writers, painters, graphic designers, architects, fashion designers and so on. What these jobs communicate is that you are creative, freedom loving, often perfectionists and dreamers looking to inspire others.
