Women in Timeshare

Women in Timeshare

While the sales industry, and timeshare in particular, may seem like it is still largely a man’s world, there has definitely been a shift over the years that has grown to include a much larger percentage of women working in sales.  The old, antiquated notion that women are better suited to other roles has been replaced as more and more women have climbed to the top of the ranks in sales jobs, proving that gender has nothing to do with ability and performance.  There are several reasons why working in sales in the timeshare industry is well-suited to women, so let’s take a closer look at why women are some of the most successful salespeople in the game.

The Advantage of Being a Woman in Timeshare

The Advantage of Being a Woman in Timeshare

While most people today thankfully believe in gender equality and society is moving towards a more balanced and fair world for women, there are still some noticeable differences that are inherent to gender and, believe it or not, can sometimes become assets instead of disadvantages.  Women are typically perceived as less threatening than their male counterparts, which often means that potential buyers have a more friendly, open attitude and let their guard down right from the start.  This means that you’ll have a better chance at building rapport with them and earning their trust, which can lead to more sales! In the timeshare industry, women are fortunate to find the same opportunities to achieve success as men do.

Joining WIN is Beneficial

Joining WIN is Beneficial

There is a wonderful volunteer-driven non-profit organization known as Women in the Industry (WIN) that is a resource for women in the vacation industry designed to connect, educate and advocate for them.  The organization provides mentoring, leadership, educational and philanthropic opportunities with meetings offering everything from networking to learning something new.  WIN Wednesdays are gatherings that allow women to network and connect with one another on a deeper level.  Thanks to corporate sponsors in the industry as well as generous individual donors, WIN continues to grow and have a positive impact on women in timeshare.

The Schedule Allows for a Great Work-Life Balance

The Schedule Allows for a Great Work-Life Balance

Most of the work in timeshare salesrooms happens in the earlier portion of the day (typically finishing by 3pm) which frees up the afternoon and evening hours, allowing for a rich life outside of work as well.  This schedule is especially appealing for women who have school-aged children because they can enjoy a professional life while still being able to spend quality time with their kids after school.  Having plenty of time in the day for things other than work can leave you feeling more satisfied, which leads to more motivation when you are at work.
