It goes without saying, but one of the major factors in feeling satisfied in a job is being paid well for what we do. As human beings, we like to feel valued for our input.

Flexibility refers to many aspects of your job, not just working hours; although, knowing that you can get time off to watch your kid’s sports achievements or take a long lunch with your husband on his birthday all contribute to feeling contentment in a job. Flexibility can also refer to how you organize your time within the workplace, where you work (can you work from home?), and how you work as a team.

Great working atmosphere

Getting along with coworkers and being part of a team that works towards a common goal without bitchiness or the blame game are essential qualities of a great job. Enjoying arriving to work in the morning to be greeted with smiling faces can make work feel like a blessing.

Variety is the spice of life

When every day’s the same, it can become very disheartening. Boredom is one of the key complaints about job dissatisfaction. When you come to work and there is an element of surprise, you can be sure you won’t get bored.

Bonuses

Having targets that are rewarded with financial bonuses is a great incentive to engage with your job. Not only does it make you feel recognized for your efforts but it also gives you something to aim for.

Mentors

Being surrounded by inspiring role models will help you appreciate you job. Respecting your boss for his or her achievements or admiring your supervisor will make you feel as though there is some intrinsic meaning to your job.
